About Me
My name is Mitchell Rathberger. I don't really love a lot of things. There are only a handful of things. I'm always on edge, and I have these awful dreams where I am drowning but too tired to swim above water. I owe my musical interest to a few: Blonde Redhead, Bob Dylan, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Au Revoir Simone, Sunset Rubdown, Townes Van Zandt and Oh No Miriam. I like poetry a lot, so I suppose that's why these bands or singers are so dear to me--I think they are all great poets in their own way. I'm no poet. I have my moments, but I'm no poet. I'm hardly a musician at all. I don't read music or understand it at all. If I write a good song, it's really just luck. Going back to the things I love, there's the Cinema (I hate blockbusters and "Indie" films though, for the most part, but there are exceptions), Music (you know who), Literature (like Faulkner to Rimbaud), and my friends (old and new, everyone in between, summer friends, winter, fall and spring friends; yes, my friends are seasonal, momentary, they all have their own place in my heart, and I love them depending on the weather. This is the best I can do). Martin Buber says that love is between I and Thou, and I believe that. A woman once told me I am the dream and the alley. I think that says a lot, too early to tell now I reckon, but I hope she's right. She usually is (but she has an awful taste in movies).
