Claire Juan likes good music.
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Claire has always managed to be an individual. Whether through her style, sense of humor or taste in music, she always seemed to do things her way. So when Claire proclaimed she would be joining Taiwan’s elite few Trip-Hop artists, the declaration didn’t come as much of a surprise.
Beginning her musical journey at 18, Claire found herself immersed in the everlasting adolescent tradition of garage/basement rock bands. With a head full of eerie melodies and passionate lyrics, Claire approached the band head on with her vision. Unfortunately, after 2 years of activity, the group disbanded and Claire found herself, a solo artist. Although, not aware of it at the time, this proved to be her springboard into the realm of composition and her autonomous life as an artist. With the age of the home studio well underway, Claire soon began working on what would become her first full length LP.
In 2007, with the support of Taiwanese Indie Label, D-Mile, Claire released her debut LP 夜遊. With 4 singles and videos released (each in rotation at all KTV/Party World locations) this was truly an incredible feat considering Trip-Hop’s following in Taiwan. However, despite the success, Claire remains unsatisfied and is hard at work on her 2nd helping. Promising a more aggressive yet compassionate sound, Claire looks to maintain her foothold while shedding light on the simple notion that good music is good music.
