About Me

Maxim Zettel is a Rotterdam based percussionist, who studied Latin percussion at “Rotterdams Conservatorium voor Muziek en Dans”. He graduated successful in June 2002 and is working there by now as a guest docent for Brazilian percussion. He has a deep love and respect for Brazilian music in general as well as for Latin, Jazz and Funk. His madness for Samba-Batucada was strengthen especially with the experience to watch and play along with some Samba-schools in Rio de Janeiro during several periods of Carnival. As a result of extensive performing, studio work, taking workshops in Cuba and Brazil, teaching and giving workshops, he has become an experienced percussionist in Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, Funk and Latin-Jazz music. He performs with different formations, such as Bloco Coringa, Medicamento, Laki Latino, Tap Act The Rhythm Factory, etc. and works as docent for the Danza Danza-school and the Rotterdam World Music Academy.
