DO THE DOG MUSIC NEWS
Out now on Do The Dog Music is the fantastic debut album by the label’s latest recruits RESOLUTION 242. Originally formed as an acoustic reggae/folk project by singer Alex in 2007, this young Stratford Upon Avon based crew gradually recruited Adam (drums), Jack (bass & vocals) & Perkie (vocals, billodica, tambourine & keys) to build up to their current 4 strong line up. Gigging around the Midlands for about a year now they have already shared stages with the likes of The King Blues, Drongos For Europe, Contempt, Section 13 & Inner Terrestrials. Strongly influenced by issues such as social justice, war & conflict, animal rights & racism, Resolution 242’s fiercely anti-establishment sound serves up thought provoking & rousing punky edged reggae, dub & acoustic folk stylings that are not to be missed on their scorching debut release. To order your copy of the disc send a cheque for £7.00 (made payable to Do The Dog Music) to Do The Dog Music, 65 Blackdown Way, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG19 3FY. You can check out 4 killer tunes from the CD now at www.myspace.com/resolution242
REBELATION vocalist Sharon has left the band after 7 years in the line up due to having too many work & family commitments. Rebelation are very sorry to see her go & would like to say a big thank you for her massive contribution over the past years. Following Sharon's departure, Ruby Taylor (singer with fellow Do The Dog band Ettin) has now replaced her in the Rebelation line up. Out now on Do The Dog Music is the scorching brand new Rebelation mini album titled "The Berlin Session". This disc is chockfull of boss trad ska & reggae grooves, super soulful vocals & killer brass meldies. The band will be promoting the release with a few summer festival appearances. Then in October Rebelation will be heading to the Continent to record their 4th album in Berlin & also play a bunch of live dates. Some of these shows will be support slots with The Slackers.
Tony, Jay & Muttley have also started a new side project called THE TONY REBELATION TRIO, playing some old Rebelation tunes in a punk rock style as well as some brand new punk tunes too. They hope to record some of these new tunes very soon.
Out now on Do The Dog Music is a superb live CD album by 1990’s UK ska outfit THE BAKESYS, titled “Return To The Planet Of The Bakesys”. The Bakesys were one of the leading lights on the underground UK ska scene in the early nineties & toured all over England & Germany. Their 5 piece line up included Pama International frontman Finny on lead vocals & Do The Dog Music head honcho Kevin Flowerdew on keyboards. The “Return To The Planet Of The Bakesys” CD was recorded live in Frankfurt, Germany & features 11 tracks showcasing in fine style the band’s storming fusion of kick ass 2 tone ska, powerpop & reggae. You can check out 4 tracks from the album on the band’s Myspace page at www.myspace.com/thebakesys
