About Me

I studied at the KULeuven University and became a Master in Germanic Philology. Music ist just my hobby, which means that I didn't take any lessons in musical notation or musicology. I've just been listening to music intensively since 1972, that's to say to a broad spectrum of all kinds of genres such as rock, pop, folk rock, symphonic rock, psychedelic music, fusion jazz, classical music ... and I've grown particularly interested in electronic music and its countless variations throughout time. So music has become my passion. I've been playing the synthesizers myself for about 15 years or more, always improvising without having recorded anything. I even stopped playing for 15 years ... Now that we've got this magnificent computer technology to record our own music in a relatively simple way, I started making and performing my own compositions in the summer of 2005. I experienced that being creative, especially composing and refining unfinished creations, as well as listening to good music is a catalyst for happiness. This has resulted - for the time being - in approximately 40 pieces of electronic music: real dreamscapes or perhaps "dream-escapes", always inspired by reality itself or some perceptions of it. Six of them live their own life on the standard player of MySpace. You can listen to them, if you wish.As a bonus there are six more songs on the first Flash MP3 Player, six on the second and six on the third Flash Player on the left. Don't forget to turn off the standard player, if you would like to listen to the music on the Flash Players. Background picture by freenaturepictures.com

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: http://www.janloenders.net
Band Members: A one man band: so ... me, myself and I :-) assisted by my synths and drum machines, the real and the virtual ones.
Influences: My music has been influenced by the musical oeuvre of Tangerine Dream, Jean Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, Vangelis, Klaus Schulze, Eno, Wendy Carlos, Tomita and the bigger-than-life sound of Pink Floyd ..., has been inspired by my experiences of life, by some specific architecture and art, by the computer visuals (moving fractals) of G-Force and Whitecap (produced by Soundspectrum) and the real landscapes and skies, painted by Mother Nature, in several weather conditions that I observe when walking with sounds coming on: embryos of "songs" ...You can watch some pictures of visual influences on the creation of my electronic soundscapes in the section on the right: about Jan Loenders. The selected photographs just give an impression of a huge variety of visual stimuli that help create my picture music, as some of my pieces may be considered ... Other "songs" express emotions or a certain state of mind or the auditive imagination of a concept.

Sounds Like: myself, I hope, playing real synthesizers, drum machines and using computer software, stimulated by the brilliant musical masterpieces of the artists mentioned above, who pioneered in the field of electronic music, with slight influences of some techno, new age, dance, trance, ambient, classical and minimal music ...Please don't forget to turn off the above player on the right, if you want to hear the pieces here below on the Flash MP3 Players! These electronic compositions reflect a variety of styles: "classical" electronic music, retro-electronica, experiments in music, evocative picture music, ambient sounds or soundtracks in the background of my/our life .....

..

Though – through my music – I try to escape from time, I’m just very aware of it “ticking away the moments that make up a … day”. ...Dreamtime navigator Jan Loenders presents electronic auditive imaginations of concepts, emotions, states of mind, landscapes etcetera in our universe .....

Acid Rain Dance

In some cultures people perform a rain dance, as we know. Since the environment has changed so drastically throughout the last decades, this electronic piece of music refers to a slight modification o...

About "White Sands"

This one was a quicky. Worked about three hours on 'it'. Nevertheless, it's Zen, it's contemplation, it's introspection, it's trance, it's like sitting (lotus?) in the dunes and watching life as if it...

The birth of a new song (Dark Heaven)

The birth of a new "song" ... : it always means something. "Dark Heaven", the title of a new composition of mine, is an oxymoron, a figure of speech, an expression composed of combined contrasts ...

The photos illustrating the songs

The photographs that illustrate the music (and the titles) are taken by my youngest daughter Marjoleine when she was fourteen. They express or suggest the character, the feeling, the atmosphere o...
