Hey some stuff about me is that I play hockey at polar ice im on the 18AA team there and I hoping to make it to the NHL in the future. I love to do new stuff that gets my blood pumpin and my adrenaline running.
..Hockey player. What is a hockey player? Being a hockey player is tradition, love, determination, dedication, sacrifice. Hockey player is who I am, what I’ve become. People outside of the hockey circle can’t understand what it means to be a hockey player. It is something you can’t understand until you have gotten up when you are too tired for that six am practice. You can’t understand until you have lifted those weights even when you are too sore, just because you know what is at stake. You can’t understand until you have learned to love that horrible stench what is the hockey locker room. You can’t understand until you have spent eight hours in a small bus with those seventeen other boys you call your family for seven months. Being a hockey player is something. developed over time that will stay with you for the rest of your life. A hockey player is what I’ve become, and have learned to love. Tradition. Hockey is full of traditions. Taping your stick the same way before every game. Listening to the same song right before you hit the ice. Hanging out with your line mates before every game. The line meetings in the disgusting bathroom before every game. Seeing your line mates in the hall ways and yelling Nine! Twenty-One! Thirteen! In the halls because those are your numbers. Before the coach comes in the captains and the leaders getting everyone pumped and ready to play. The team prayers before we exit the locker room. The “Our Father†and the “Hail Mary†as we are tightly huddled and prepared for battle. The family. It is hard for people outside the hockey circle to understand the meaning of the hockey family. When you are on a team those seventeen boys are your family. You love them like brothers. You fight together, win together, lose together, and defend each other together. Being on a hockey team means that no matter what, you know that you will have sixteen brothers at your back ready to defend you. The roadie. As a hockey player you look forward to those weekends that you get to spend with your team. People outside of the hockey circle say “ Oh that sucks you have to miss this party, or this event because you will be out of town.†Every hockey player knows that there is no where you would rather be that out of town in a shitty hotel with your boys. Going to horrible restaurants, sleeping in small uncomfortable rooms, and not getting much sleep. All of these things seem horrible to others, but to us, it is amazing because we are making memories of a life time. It's because we can party in the locker room just fine. nothings better then coming in the locker room after a big win and tossing in a lip and showering with 20 guys. see people outside the hockey circle can't understand that. you see, a hockey player is what iv'e become and damn proud of it. No other sport can come close. We play throguh it all, broken bones, brusies, cuts. We play cuz it's possible to skate fast enoguh to leave life itself behind. Here's to HOCKEY
