Gold Disc Productions

About Me

Jon Gregory started Gold Disc Productions in 1998, and was joined by Sylvia in late 2003. In the early days the studio was located in Cardiff city centre, a stonesthrow from the Millenium Stadium. But after struggling with editing out the noise of several FA cup finals, Gold Disc re-located to the peace and tranquility of the Upper Rhondda Valley on the edge of the Brecon Beacons in November 2005.Both experienced musicians as well as prolific composers, the last few years have seen them work with writers and artists from the USA, Australia, Russia, Germany, Norway and Irland as well as the UK. Their productions have been broadcast on Radio and Television in several countries including the UK, Irland, Norway and the US and their collaboration with Norwegian filmmaker Tor Sivertstøl on his shortfilm Siste Vakt received great acclaim.Coming from a similar bacground both starting in rock bands at the age of thirteen, Sylvia took a more traditional route. While studying arranging and musicology at the University in Oslo she was awarded a £7000 development grant for a selection of songs written with her then partners Margaret Bjerkvik and Cecilie Jørstad. In 1998 Sylvia changed direction and moved to The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama to study classical singing finishing her Master degree in 2003. Havng worked as a session singer on recordings for a varety of labels such as EMI, Chandos, Priory Records and Sain Sylvia brings a wealth of professional experience to the studio. She regularly appears as a soloist and backing singer on BBC radio and television.Jonathan played in seveal bands during the 80s culminating with indie band City Arabs winning battle of the bands in 1990. A frustrated songwriter Jon left the band in 1992 and spent time in the US writing songs for his first solo album. Returning to the UK he deviced a one man show entitled Take a Deep Breath. During the recording process of the album based on the the show, Jon realised that in order to get the results he wanted he needed to learn more about production. This led him to move to Newcastle in 1996 studying Music Production at The John Marley Centre for Performing Arts graduating with distinction in 1998.
