What’s going on readers my name is Lil Paul a.k.a LP I am a Singer/Songwriter/ Rapper from London. I first started performing back in the day inspired by musicians such as Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, R Kelly, Robert Johnson, The Specials, Etta James, LL cool J, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington and Common. Throughout my life I have experience a lot of emotional and physical pain which by listening to music got me through. Music gave me motivation for life, a purpose of living and something to look forward in doing, the words and Sound of music gave me understanding in some of life’s lesson such as love, life and pain. I first started rapping from listening to rappers such as Mos def and 2pac at a early age, a couple of years later my interest for singing grew then I joined the church choir to work on my vocals. After then I started attending vocal lessons to improve my vocal ability. My abilities in Music is not just practical, I have good theory knowledge of music from studying in London. I have gained good performance skills with a more effective writing structure while attending The Midi Music Company. I have attended a number of music institutions gaining a better understanding of music and some accredited certificates from Roehampton University (Bachelors Music Degree) and South Thames College (B’Tec Nationals in Music Performance). During my time at those institutions I learnt different styles of singing such as Jazz, Soul and Classical. All these skills I have learnt during my time studying music has improve and opened my knowledge of music which makes me more creative and experimental when writing and performing my music. When writing my songs I try to write from experience and influences which I believe gives my music a style and people can relate to. I enjoy writing music that gives the listener enjoyment and understanding. My style of music is not really noticeable it varies in the way I am feeling and what I aim to portrait when am writing. My music aims to mead broken hearts and talk about real issues in mine and your life’s. When not writing or performing I enjoy collaborating with other musicians, I have collaborated with a lot of musicians from Dance producers, to Grime Mc and Soul/Nu Jazz Singers. I enjoy working with Artists and Producers with a unique and a different style that will Harmonies well with what I am about. The type of musicians Il’ be interested in working with are hard workers, Talented, Passionate about music , who I can learn from and teach. Since to date I have had the opportunity of performing to a large capacity of people at venues such as Hammersmith Apollo, Brixton Academy and The works Nightclub.
