Jahko Lion was born as Michael Livingston Wright, on April 6 1961, in the parish of St Elizabeth, Jamaica. Early in his life, he was introduced to the magic of gospel rhythms in the church of his childhood, and his appetite for musichas grown ever since. As a youngster, he came to dicover the powerfull musical art of groups like Wailing Soul, Bob Marley and the Wailers, Burning Spear and several other internationally acclaimed artists. It was under this influence that young Jahko Lion began to compose and develope his own brand of Reggae, a style which blend into Jamaican musical traditions, but keeps a strong flavor of Jahko's distinct vision and personality.
Hoping to bring his music to higher grounds, so jahko traveled to England, where he spent some time and frequented various music circles. But it wasn't until after he moved to Switzerland that his art began to step up. Once on the European mainland, jahko linked up with the Roots Man Productions, for which he released some 45 (Fire and Rain, Mister Tician).
Since working with Roots Man Productions, he has also opened a number of shows, including shows headlined by Buju Banton, Junior kelly, Israel vibrations and Bunny Wailers. Recently Jahko Lion joined the Abyssinians in a tour in Europe, and now he is working with Soprode Records, Bordeaux, France.One Love
