About Me
WHO ARE THESE GUYS?In Cincinnati, a city polluted with cover bands and emo rocking teens, its tough to find any music that stands above the rest. But if your senses guide you in the right direction, then you'll notice that diamond in the rough, Stash. Those who know will tell ya- there aint a sound or a show anywhere quite like it. So you don't like hip hop, rock, rap, blues or soul? That's your fault. But if you do, then tap into your new favorite.
Stash has been around for 3 years. There's been a couple guys who've lost interest or parted ways, but it has always worked out for the better. The instrumental core has been pumpin out tunes since the turn of the century, all previously members of the Rock outfit Unsettled. As luck would have it, a gig that booked Unsettled with local hip hop act Laze would lay the ground work for the project to come.
E.J. Mac, vocalist/lyricist for Laze, was at a creative crossroads with his group at the time, as was Unsettled. We soon paired up and began to create what we immediately realized was a ground breaking sound. You can't put into words the sheer musicality of guitarist Ricky Venus, a heavily inspired blues/rock genius whose tone and conviction may one day wake Stevie Ray. Sharing the strings is Matt Starr on bass, a confident and experienced young talent who knows when to step up, but more importantly when to lay back and let the simplicity of the groove prevail. (And he's got soul, brother). Bringing us to Nick Rock, the Godfather of rhythm, and an always evolving drummer who even suprises himself most of the time. Commentating the grooves are Ianigma (of FMN fame) and E.J. Mac on vocals, the pinnacle of the MC community. They'll tell ya all about smokin, drinkin, chillin and clownin, but its all balanced out with geniune references to real life situations. Throw that shit together with a bag a weed and roll it up fat and you've got Stash, the premiere musical fortress of the midwest.
Odds are, if u are missin out on us, u may be missin out on FMN (Famous Mr. Nobodiez) also. They are to us what Goodie Mob was to Outkast, brothers in song workin together to conquer whatever. Ianigma is a featured mc with FMN, as are Boot and Crazy Ray, two more of the city's finest. Guest spots from these guys on stage adds a ton of energy and charisma to our show, so look for em up there throwin down with us.
Holdin it down with FMN is T Fish, a master of his craft in production and the brain behind some truly sinister beats. He is currently busy helping us record our second album, due out by the end of '06.
Stash is the answer to 'where it's at' in the Nati. We'll be hittin the road in January promoting our new record, so please come check out the show. But do yourself a favor... don't have an opinion till you hear this shit yourself, cuz thats the worst decision you could make. And after all, you don't want to deprive yourself of a lifetime of sonic fulfillment.
