Last year over two hundred artists participated in the festival. It's truly a grass roots event, put on by a handful of volunteers who contribute their time and effort. The idea for the festival was conceived by Virginia Harrison, a local artist, who had the foresight to contact a local developer, Michael Sager, who shared her bohemian spirit and interest in showcasing the work of local artists. With the assistance of the Arts & Humanities Council of Tulsa, contributions from local businesses, other artists and individuals who believed in their vision the festival has been a rousing success and is well in the works for a fifth year.Ultimately, after all is said and done it remains a community based festival dependent upon the artists and our citizens who support them to make the Blue Dome Festival a tradition that will continue to grow.
