I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I was born July 5, 1976, when my owner purchased his first record at Two Guys in Freehold, New Jersey. It was Sgt. Pepper (and yes, he is annoyingly snobby about that being his first album). The day before, which happened to be the Bicentennial, my owner saw a broadcast of Yellow Submarine on NYC's Channel 11. Literally, his life was changed- prior to that day, music was not a part of his life. In the following 15 or so years, music was a consuming passion. Not so much anymore. But he still thinks of me with fondness... he's quite the sentimentalist. You should see him when he takes me out to play- pretty maudlin, if you ask me.

My Interests

Vinyl Advocacy.

I'd like to meet:

Gentle Giant fans. People who read Trout Fishing in America way back when. 'Early' Hal Hartley fans. Philosophy majors. Math teachers. People who read liner notes, and are geeked-out enough to tell you who played banjo on Nashville Skyline, or who is credited with "lights and illumination" on King Crimson's Islands.

Music:

Should be analog

Movies:

Rust Never Sleeps. The Last Waltz. American Hardcore. A Hard Days Night. New York Doll. The Velvet Goldmine . The Kids Are Alright.

Television:

Ken Burns doesn't need any more kudos, but Jazz was relatively awesome.

Books:

The obvious answer is High Fidelity, which I haven't read, but Hornby wrote a great set of essays about songs called... Songbook. Is Steve Simmels still around?

Heroes:

Discwasher
