Slammin' and Jammin' and Cuttin' The Rug...
Ju Ju Hounds... what was it all about?
History of the band - 1992-1993
The band was born at the end of 1991 when Jimmy '2 Fingers' Ashhurst came to his friend Izzy Stradlin who was sittin' at his hometown Lafayette and thinking what should he do after leaving Guns N' Roses. Together with Jimmy they decided to make a new band and began the writing process. At this time songs like Shuffle it All or Somebody Knockin' were born. Later on they asked Rick Richards (Georgia Satellites) and Charlie 'Chalo' Quintana (Cruzadors) to join them. At the very beginning the guys realized the chemistry between them is magical.
They moved to L.A. for jamming and recording. When the well known riots began they didn't feel very well being there and when the lightning hit the building while Izzy was recording vocals for 'Pressure Drop' they all understood they had to move somewhere else... "Head to Chicago, it's close to home, to get a little relief, don't really need to carry no gun here, don't need to be packin' no piece...". Izzy Stradlin: When we went to Chicago, the hotel we stayed at would have live music every night and all these people would be there, laughing, buzzing and dancing. When we went out, we'd pass all these reggae, rock, thrash, punk and jazz clubs on Clark street where people were just having a good time. Being in L.A. I'd forgotten how it was in some towns where the music scene thrives seven days a week and people are cuttin' a rug. This is just a fun song about loosening up"... [to be continued]
Jivin' Sister Fanny - Copenhagen, Denmark [11.21.1992]
The band was on the World Tour since two months. However there still happened some small mistakes. During the show Izzy started two songs wrong just because he couldn't see the set-list. They entered the stage at 9:00 p.m.
