Pocket Classic

Pocket Classic started when two teenage boys, Rory McDonald and Joel Jackson, met through a mutual friend known as the one and only ’special’ or ’kb’. After the awkward first meetings, Joel was invited back to Rory’s house to initiate a ’jam session’ and from then on it has only been forward for the teenage duo. The two then started regularly playing ’sundowners’ in rory’s backyard in front of Macca (rory’s dad) and his mates, these nights are cherished and have become somewhat of a past time for the duo and of course macca himself. After many a drunken applause form the sundowner crew the two boys realised "hey we might not be as shit as we think we are" and joel being the organisation freak and keen musician he is, quickly got us onto some local gigs. Point Samson Twilight Tunes was the first gig for the two and may be looked back on, being one of their best shows to date, as it was their debut and destroyed underestimations of the unsuspecting crowd. The yacht club in dampier also became a somewhat regular gig for the two and it was here where money came on the scene:) and free feeds. As they continued to play these gigs a certain gig came along which was sure to boost exposure and confidence for the two on their path to stardom, The Angel Flight Benefit Concert 2007. This gig will be remembered by the two in many ways, 2 of their first original songs ’Milroy and the Lepors’ and ’First Time’ were unleashed on the crowd, it was their largest crowd yet, they were put up with the likes of another local band made up of muffin break friends, Secerno, a band in full support of the two and finally, the two were unveiled as the Space Kadets. 2008.... it is now 2008 and there is much planned for the band, changes have already been made, as the Space Kadets are now known as ’Pocket Classic’ ut this will not change their style, prowess or undescriale ways of amazing local karrathian audiences. An EP will be released sometime this year and many bigger gigs are popping up ready for pocket classic to take at the tip of a drumstick, so come one and come all (preferably all) to see Pocket Classic in 2008!
