As the years went by, Melbo entered competitions such as Kittitian Superstar in 2006 and Kittitian’s Got Talent in 2007. Even though she didn’t win the shows, nothing stopped her from singing. What other talents does Melbo have other than singing? Well Let’s find out. Melbo at the age of 10, where she first started playing steel pan at her school mentioned above in 1997. Melbo continued her steel pan playing at a summer time work shop called “PANSKAN” conducted by the late Mr. Earl Boots Jones of Trinidad. During the years of Panskan in the summertime from 1997-2003, Melbo was awarded and recognized by Mr. Earl Boots Jones himself best lead steel pan player or best single tenor lead player. She also got the opportunity to teach a class for the very first time with Mr. Jones in 2003 before his death in 2007. Melbo is currently a member of the Silver Stars Steel Orchestra (SSSO). Besides steel pan, Melbo also plays tennis and where again was awarded best Tennis player from tennis camp in 1997. Besides singing, playing steel pan and tennis, Melbo also finds her self to be an athlete doing a little track and field and also playing netball.Melbo has always had dreams about singing on stage with an artist and that dream finally came true when she got the opportunity to perform with one of Barbados’ soca singers Peter Ram at Club Kactus, as they had their 1st anniversary held on August 25th, 2007. She also hopes to perform with other artists both locally and regionally, whenever, wherever. So, who discovered Melbo? She was discovered by Kelvin (TTO) Christopher of Equator Records during the Kittitian Superstar Show in 2006. Melbo got eliminated just before the semi-finals but got a chance to make a guest appearance doing a Steel pan performance and again in 2007 she made another guest appearance doing a solo performance of her 1st song Can’t Have You. From there Kelvin realized the potential that she had. Melbo then became a part of Equator Records and sang Back Ups to Rico’s tracks Black Woman and Girl Next Door. When it comes to singing and performing that’s just Melbo. An artist with originality who brings it straight with full force and no holding back. Like she says “Come all the way and not half way.”
