Growing up in both TX and Louisiana gave me a great dose of all the things I like most; music, hunting and fishing, great cooking and the coolest people in the world.My first concert productions were at the Rockcenter complex in 1989; including the first metal Slamfest. During the 90s I was a concert promoter in Houston at several clubs; Showbar on Washington Ave, Goat's Head Soup and, Deep Phat. I also was a writer and editor for Rivethead magazine, a local music rag. I promoted and produced nearly 350 shows of every style we could find. We were the first club in town to give shows to many bands that would one day be famous (Phish,Beck,No Doubt,Jesus Lizard,The Blue Nile(got nominated for small venue show of the year 1990),UB40,Rev. Horton Heat, Bad Livers,Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt,Robert Earl Keen,Prong,Gammacide, Skrew,Crowbar,Soul Hat, Bouffant Jellyfish,Goodfoot, Killer Bees,Sprawl,Eye Hate God, Soilent Green, Pain Teens,Dead Horse,Screw,Joan Jett(she threw an ashtray at me),DRI,7 Seconds,Social Distortion, Ministry,Flotsam & Jetsam,Pantera,David Byrne,Loop,Screaming Trees,Melvins, All,Paw,Barkmarket,16 Horsepower,InnocenceMission,Testament,Savatage,Pennywise,Off spring(yuk),Verve,Mentors,Paw,Rancid,Fugazi,Gwar,Korn,Fu Manchu,Rocket From the Crypt,Girls Against Boys, King's X,Deftones and many more).In 1991 I interviewed a South African band named, Tribe After Tribe and their singer/ guitarist, Robbi Robb. I was blown away on every level and a few years later I would end up going on 2 European tours with them 1997 & 2003. King's X bassist Doug Pinnick went with us on the first tour. Then Joey Vera of Armored Saint/Fates Warning fame went out with us next. On the second tour I added a little New Orleans Zulu Mardi Gras style to the show, by dressing up in the spyboy tradition and drumming and blessing the show.
