About Me

At the end of 2006, I retired after 38 years of financial auditing in the private and public sectors. At last, I was free to return to my music which of necessity had taken a back seat most of that time.
In the late Sixties/early Seventies, I played with a Nairn band (with George Macleod on bass Colin Ewan on drums, plus invited guests) and we covered a variety of music (from Scottish to pop to country) for all kind of functions (like dances to weddings). I also did some solo entertaining in a Nairn lounge bar. This was all very part-time stuff whilst I was studying to be an accountant. My career became serious so I gave away my geetar and amp and retired from performing publicly.
I always kept an acoustic guitar handy which I played in the home for a few hours every month.
So, some 35 years on, I am now performing again and thoroughly enjoying it, doing much the same cover songs as before. The only difference is that I am much older but then again so is my audience!

Band Members: Solo Entertainer playing Scottish, Country and mid-20th Century popular music.
Influences: I have such a wide range of musical influences, examples of which are (in no particular order):Andy Stewart, Paul Simon, Chuck Berry, Elvis, Tammy Wynette, Rabbie Burns, Beatles, Patsy Cline, Percy Sledge, Kinks, REM, Crowded House, Leonard Cohen, Byrds, Moody Blues, Dire Straits, Buck Owens, Don Rich, Dolly Parton, Shadows, REM, Willie Nelson and especially Johnny Cash.Apologies to the thousand other influential names not listed.
Sounds Like: I don't think I sound like anyone else having developed my own style over the years.I readily admit to putting on an American twang for some country songs that just wouldn't sound that great with a Scottish accent!
