Being bored is no excuse for apathy. Being bored is no excuse for anything.

About Me

My hobbies include reading, listening to world music/goth music/etc, and going to the theatre. I am currently too excessively busy to do any of these things, but I hope to do them some time in the future.
Contact Menu from, BlinkYou.com I teach high school, sometimes teach college, am active in Jewish education, love to learn, am persuing my doctorate in Education and Leadership, write poetry (some bad, some good, and some that is so awful it should be burned and the ashes buried), and am constantly fascinated by new things every day. Life is a "go, eat, do" project: one should always try to go, eat, and do new things each day.I am a strong believer in people's rights to make decisions for themselves....so long as they understand and adhere to the consequences of those decisions.I'm quite fond of this poem because it seems to represent my ambitions as a work-aholic:My candle burns at both ends; It will not last the night; But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends-- It gives a lovely light! -------Edna St. Vincent MillayThe whole "being married and an adult" thing has come as a shock to me; I always expected to be an eternal student and teacher, but being expected to conform to certain opinions, attitudes, and behaviors because I'm "old" has been intriguing. I adore my husband, three cats, a dog, and the rest of my family; it is surprising that he loves me back, considering how much focus I give my studies, my students, and my goals, and how often I forget that there are other people outside of my teeny hyper-focused bubble.......I get annoyed when people try to skate through life and waste the talents or skills that others might love to have.....I also am obviously familiar with the soapbox......so I'll step down (for now). Media response to tragedy

Sigh. I think I've become (more) cynical. On one hand, the role of the media is to inform. I like that. I like to know what is going on. On the other hand, the people presenting the information, parti...
