About Me

I am officially a mommy! Willem Heinrich was born Jan 27, 2007 at 2:45 pm. I am ectastic that Willem is now in my life (and outside my body). He is just amazingly cute and fun to take care of and learn about. Its just as much fun to watch my husband Peter with him too. My little family and I are living in Seattle, Washington right now as Peter works on his doctorate at the University of Washington. He is studying animal behavior (more specifially the physiology of hearing process in a species of deep water fish). That makes him a big marine biology nerd, which is so endearing to me.Right now I'm a stay at home mom but I am also a graduate student at the University of Hawaii in the process of completing a Masters in Early Childhood Education. I'm more than half way done; I've just got one more summer in Hawaii and to finish my thesis. I'm also taking Irish dance classes for my own health, diversion and because of my love for dance.22 random facts about me:

1) I am a sixty cow wife. That's right, a 60 cow wife. This is because a group of girls and I at BYU decided that the number of diamonds in your wedding rings constitutes the equivalent of how many cows of a wife you would be if you lived in a culture where people traded cows for wives. My wedding ring has 60 little diamonds in it.
2) I'm a Cal Berkeley fan. I've been to every big game since I was born. This year will be my 24rd. GO BEARS!! Little blob has one up on me because he went in utero. I'm just a little jealous.
3) I got married on August 12, 2004 in the Salt Lake temple.
4) I was born in the 80's. That makes me a Fraggle Rocker. I had Care Bear wallpaper for the first 7 years of my life.
5) I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 21, 2001. Last year made 5 years!
6) I am a preschool teacher meaning I still act like a little kid most of the time. Just ask Peter.
7) I collect Flower Fairies.
8) If I were to live in any other point in history than the present, I would live in the 14th century, preferably in Ireland or Scotland.
9) My husband and I have 9 baby names picked out for our future children. We are not planning on having 9 kids, however. And since I know you want to know what they are, here they are: Willem Heinrich, Carolyn Belle, Elizabeth de Normandie, Abigail Anne, Joshua Frederick, Steven Phillip, Joseph David, Michael Blair, and Kathryn Gwendolyne. Of those 9 names, seven of them are family names. Phillip and David would be the children's grandfathers. Blair and Frederick are the children's great grandfathers. Carolyn is Grandma. de Normandie is my middle name and my grandmother's maiden name.
10) My father died when I was 15.
11) As a teenager, I was pretty screwed up. Now I've turned my life around. Mostly thanks to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I now know where true happiness can be found.
12) I graduated college in 3 and a half years. I started in 2002 and graduated 2005. I was 20 when I graduated. At the age of 21, I started my Master's degree. By December 2008, I'll be Jenne Alderks, MEd (at the age of 24).

13) I graduated from high school early.
14) I love to play with corn starch and water. Its my favorite preschool activity.
15) Here is a short list of my favorite children's books: Goodnight Moon, If You Give a Pig a Pancake, Go Away Big Green Monster, It Looked Like Spilt Milk, Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See? and Do You Know How Much I Love You?
16) I won't let Peter grow a beard. Not yet, at least and now that I've given a goatee a chance, I don't think I'll ever let him grow a beard.
17) I love the Veggie Tales Silly Songs. My current favorite being: The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything. And really, I am tempted to lick a sparkplug and to swim in yogurt and to throw my mashpotaters up against the wall. And most especially, I want to go to Boston in the fall.
18) I don't like big cities and now that I live in Seattle, I'll keep that opinion.
19) I think the most beautiful place on earth (that I've been to) is Yosemite National Park. The next most beautiful: Redwood National Park. Other beautiful places I want to go: Ireland and Alaska.
20) I love my husband and I love my mom. I love my sister Dana (even if she is a sister in the gospel and not biological-she is my Willem's aunt.) I love my baby, my kitten and I love going to school and learning. I love the gospel and the priesthood. I love purple!!!!
21) My greatest ambition in life is to be sealed to my immediate family. I'm waiting on my mom to join the church so I can be sealed to my parents for eternity. Thanks to the temple ordinances that have been revealed to the prophet Joseph Smith, I have already been sealed to my eternal companion and best friend. Together, Peter and I will have children born in the covenant and help each other to the highest degree of heaven where I will literally be his queen and he will be my king.
22) Last by not least, I have a rubber duckie bathroom and I love it!
23) The most I've ever weighed was when I was pregnant with Willem. The day before he was born I was 200 lbs, since then I've gotten down to the same weight from when I got married! I thank Willem for helping me be the healthiest I've ever been.

Heroes:

The best examples that I look to in my life are Jesus Christ and Joseph Smith. My Grandma Elnore, her example is teaching me to love life and live it like it won't end. There's alot to be said for that. I'm learning that instead of looking forward to heaven, I can do all in my power to make it right here with me on earth. Also, my husband is my hero. He taught me the importance of not giving up on your dreams. If he had, we wouldn't be going to graduate school.
