In the summer of 2004 in York Pennsylvania, there was unrest. Four young hard working men got together and decided it was time to start making good music. With the talents of Brian Porter on lead guitar, Billy Weber on the bass, Justin Buckley on drums, the young men set out on a mission. In search of a vocalist, Brian contacted long time friend and former band mate, TJ Bradley. TJ was more than happy to join this new band to be called, Darwin.
Brian and TJ had a history of making music prior to the new Darwin project. They had been members of SitDown Standing. Brian brought SitDown Standing together, and helped the bassist learn the bass in order to play. Lacking vocals and direction, TJ soon joined the band. SitDown Standing had tried to record a few songs, but ultimately the fate of that band seemed hopeless. TJ was kicked out of the band, only to be followed by the bands originator, Brian Porter. For years the two would seek out other bands to join, with nothing sticking or holding solid until Darwin came along.
Darwin seemed to be the answer to the band members problems. Brian, Billy, and Justin also had a musical history together, in the band Last Chance whom only saw one performance in the local high school talent show. Last Chance was very short lived as well until finally all members who had trouble finding the right band for them came together. The band got along great and made some truly unique songs.
They soon recorded the songs at Valencia Recording in Silver Springs Maryland with Paul (Aberdien, Moneen). Brian’s brother Carl video taped the bands recording session and would go on to video their live performances and quickly became the bands manager. He has made a music video for them, a website and merchandise design. The band was well on their way to success.
Something was missing however, and the band soon realized that in order to make this band everything it could be, they would have to find a second guitarist. The search went on and on, and finally in early 2005, they found their second guitarist in Trae. Trae seemed to be the final piece of the Darwin puzzle. Tragedy struck Darwin when Billy quit and Trae was asked to leave. It seemed as though Darwin was done, but they held strong.
Billy has since rejoined Darwin and Brian has joined the marines. This will not stop Darwin. Darwin still holds practices when Brian is home and they have plans to visit Paul and record their debut full length.
With many performances and more to come, and not to mention the growing fan base, this band is bound for greatness.
