BILLIONAIRE FILMS: ONE TO WATCHDIRECTOR/PRODUCER/ACTORDAVID "Super Dave" MANIGAULTDavid Manigault is not your typical director by any stretch of the imagination. At a very young age Manigault has directed everything from music videos, to commercials, from comedic independent films to powerful dramatic shorts all with one purpose in mind…the work. “To me directing is art. It’s painting a picture, a visual picture, that sparks something in whoever watches it. I want my projects to be conversation pieces, to make people feel something, anything, good or bad.” To truly appreciate Manigault’s not so meteoric rise one must first learn about the surroundings from whence he came.David Manigualt grew up on the streets of East Baltimore, Maryland. Like most ghetto’s throughout the country, the neighborhood where Manigault lived as a child was poverty stricken to say the least. The streets surrounding his home were filled with drug dealers, hustlers, and every other ne’re do well imaginable but he steered away from the streets, using his athletic ability to aid him in achieving his primary goal. Manigualt first attended Dunbar High School in the Baltimore area but transferred to St. Francis Academy in Baltimore City where he became the starting point guard and all region selection for the duration of his tenure there. He parlayed his athletic success into a scholarship to Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland. He became the first member in his family to attend and later graduate from college with a Bachelor of Science in Film Productions. Most individuals would have been content being the star of their college basketball team but not Manigault. At this point he realized his life was not just basketball, he realized that he had so much more to give then just shooting jumpers and crossing over opposing guards so he left the basketball team with his coaches blessing and began following another path, a path that would lead him to his present career in the entertainment industry.“If you want to be a success in this business you have to dream big and that’s what I’ve done all my life…dream big. And who Manigault is, is a director, an actor to be reckoned with for years to come.
