BIO Lola Totsiou was born in Thessaloniki-Greece. She studied piano at the "State Conservatory of Thessaloniki", at the"Heidelberg-Mannheim State Universityfor Music" and at the"Ferenc Liszt Academy" in Budapest.Her teachers were Eleni Papazoglou, Christoph Back and Zoltan Kocsis. Since 1980 she has presented her work in concerts, recitals and chamber music performances in Europe, Cyprus, Egypt and the USA. She has taken part in international festivals and seminars and she has recorded several performances for the radio and television. She has to her credit numerous first performances of works from the contemporary Greek and international repertory. During the last years she has enhanced her repertory with works in jazz and modern classic music. She improvises, composes and experiments with ways of musical expression and performance. Lola Totsiou has been teaching at the "New Conservatory", the "Modern Conservatory", the "Music College of Thessaloniki" and for nine years at the"University of Macedonia"in Thessaloniki. Since 2005 she runs her own piano seminar with the title "Something Should Be Going On". She uses her yoga experience as well as techniques of the experientalisti cseminars of the Polish director Richard Nieoszym in her approach to technique and interpretation,aiming at the release of the artistic potential of the students. Works of her own: 1} "Dance with me"-{2004}- {three pianists on one piano}- for keys, strings, vocals, hindu harmonium. 2} "Titika 2-the guitarist"-{2005}- {three pianists on one piano}- for keys, strings, voices,small percussion. 3} "The thief"-{2006}- for piano and voice 4} "Friends" -{2006}- piano improvisations. 5} music for a play written by Akyllas Karazissis named "The dance of the lonesome heart", performed at the "National Theatre of Greece" in Athens. {2009}.
