The Motor Primitives

About Me

The Motor Primitives are a four-piece band from Madison, Wisconsin. The MPs play rock'n'roll they call Proto Pop Punk as their sound infuses catchy melodies with the raw elements of porto-punk music. The music varies from simple power chords to sophisticated arrangements, and most people find it quite danceable.

Formed in 2003, these Midwestern favorites keep growing in popularity. During live performances, the Motor Primitives lead their audiences through sets that span high-energy rockers to mid-tempo head-bobbers to warm, grooving, melodic songs.

The year 2005 marked the release of their self-titled debut album which garnered a bevy of positive reviews. In early 2006, they released the gritty follow-up, Be the Engine. Now, in 2007, new members have given the group an updated sound and upgraded energy level.

Pam Barrett has surrounded herself with punk rock veterans, including Robin Davies, formerly of The Tar Babies (SST Records), Ed Feeny, formerly of The Appliances SFB (Ruthless Records), and Jeff Muendel, formerly of Backbiter (Man's Ruin Records). What does that mean? These guys spent a lot of time touring in rusty old vans making little money but having a blast anyway!

Sounds Like: PROTO POP PUNK - If The Pretenders got in a car crash with The Who, and Deep Purple performed reconstructive surgery using a blood transfusion from the Talking Heads in the process, you'd wind up with the The Motor Primitives.
