Hey welcome to my page.
I'm currently back from Afghanistan. Where I was for the last year probably the single most active area in Afghanistan. And thatyear the Taliban had vowed to wipe it off the earth as an affront to Islam. Well, personnally speaking, that's just BS.
It seems that the main crimelord here has been pushed back for a few years and the area is finally stabilizing...well, he didn't like that (especially since two of his sons and a brother or two have been killed trying to regain his serfdom.) He followed the philosophy of: "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." And he has aligned with the Taliban. Before last year his crooks and the Taliban were at war. So, all told, between the foreign fighters coming for a vacation to perform Jihad, the Taliban, local weekend warriors and Mr Crimelord, this FOB is in the middle of an estimated 1000 enemy. Hmmm...since they're using Taliban math, it's probably half of that.
I've been in the Army now for a while. These guys are the best. It seems that often we go unnoticed. The home front simply watches 10 minute news blurbs about us, says "How horrible," and goes aboiut their daily lives persuing pointless ambitions qnd pop culture idiocies. Very few actually recognize the sacrifice all these guys make unless it impacts them directly. And fewer still sacrifice themselves. All my guys volunteered for this, for various reasons. But we all believe it is a fight worth fighting, not only for the United States but for the Afghans as well. Our security is tied to theirs. And the Afghanistan peoples deserve to live in a country that can progress out of the feudal, 14th century atmosphere and live peacefully.
As far as all my new friends...well, what can I say? I absolutely love beautiful women. I can be a helluva flirt, but in all honesty I am not a womanizer or a player. I have never once cheated on a woman. Mostly because I am the one who would have to look at my guilty face in the mirror. I would know and that is enough to destroy a relationship. I tend to put women on pedastals somewhat. I love to spoil them and to treat them right. (All very Leo of me...) And I love attention as well. Who doesn't?
