I am here for Serious Relationships, Friends and Networking

About Me

I have been blessed --- after a 23 yr break to raise my family, I finally got to finish college (who knew my getting laid-off for 2 yrs would be such a blessing - but then again, things are what we make them). I graduated in 2006 along with my two oldest daughters. Then a funny thing happened on the way to grad school - I found my dream house, bought it, and moved. Still waiting to pull the circumstances around for grad school but now doing so from my heaven-on-earth. Still anxious to get on with work in my field and grad school and my research . . . sigh . . .But in the meantime, I am enjoying the things that make life worth living every day --- the simple pleasures . . . taking time to commit "random acts of kindness" for the people around me, make memories in my new home . . . also by doing kindness to myself --- stopping to smell all the pretty wild flowers here in my haven when they are in bloom . . . watch the birds, squirrels, raccoons, and deer play in the yard, catch a glimpse of a red fox or coyote at dusk . . . stopping to enjoy the fragrant breezes, watch a sunrise or sunset (now that the leaves are off the trees so I can see them) . . . taking time out to sit around a campfire with friends and family . . . to love . . . to laugh . . . to live simply and simply live! Isn't that what it's all about?

My Interests

Camping, canoing, horseback riding, hiking, archery, target shooting, swimming, hanging out around a campfire with friends, photography, sketching and painting, travel, people and nature watching, concerts and music, festivals and powwows, art and history museums, antique and craft markets, dancing . . . walks in gentle, misty rains and fairy-dust snows, watching the sunset, spending time with my kids and grandkids, enjoying my friendship with my mother. I traveled a lot growing up and I'd like to get back to traveling again . . . show my teenagers this beautiful country while they are still with me . . . introduce my grandchildren all the wonders of nature . . . and should I be so blessed, I'd like to see the world and my favorite places hand-in-hand with a beloved.

I'd like to meet:

Any of my heros . . . anyone who qualifies as a hero by doing, being and living the values of love and compassion for others and this beautiful planet we all share.

Music:

I love the good old fashioned Rock-n-Roll, Blues, and Motown I was raised on along with the Jazz, Swing, and Blues of my parents' generation. I weaned my kids on Fleetwood Mac, CCR, Eagles, Clapton, Henley, Queen, Bowie, Phil Collins, and Elton John. I listen to the newer pop and rock as well (GreenDay, Howie Day, ColdPlay, etc). I also love world music - Native American (north and south), Celtic, and Gypsy music are particular favorites. I enjoy the ethnic dances of those cultures as well. Music moves stirs my soul and moves me deeply. I don't just listen to one thing - I like variety to match the mood I'm in or would like to be in, the occasion and/or the scenery around me.Music Video:

Movies:

Favorites: What in the Bleep Do We Know, IndianaJones series, Lethal Weapon Series, DieHard Series, StarTrek and StarWars Series, Back to the Future Series, Hunt for Red October, True Lies, Medicine Man, 50 First Dates, Two Weeks Notice, Love Actually, What Dreams May Come, Waking Ned Devine, MP Holy Grail & Life of Brian, EverAfter, Anna and the King, Seven Years in Tibet, The American President, Sneakers, My Fellow Americans, African Queen, Heartbreak Ridge, Smoke Signals, Little Big Man, Buffalo Girls, Dances With Wolves, The Last of the Mohicans, Last of the Dogmen, Big Jake, True Grit, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, Three Nuts for Cinderella, Sahara, October Sky, Iron Jawed Angels, It's a Wonderful Life, Fiddler On the Roof, Yours, Mine & Ours, all the Muppet Movies and just about anything Disney.

Television:

I don't get to watch much TV but have recently become a regular viewer of Gray's Anatomy, Lost, and Eli Stone (gotta love that first episode).

Books:

The entire Conversations With God series, A Course In Miracles, A Return to Love, The Road Less Traveled, A World Waiting to be Born, A Simple Monk, The Art of Happiness, The Good Book, The Thinkers Way, Ethics for the New Millenium, Everything I Ever Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, Random Acts of Kindness, Jesus and Buddha, What God Wants, God In All Worlds, God Without Religion . . . then there is The Invitation, The Dance, and The Call (all by Oriah Mountain Dreamer, see my blog for the poems these books were based upon) . . . anything philosophical and inspirational. All I had time to read for quite a while was for school . . . after a much deserved rest I am looking forward to reading The Universe in a Single Atom by the Dali Lama and The Seven Daughters of Eve. If you've read either of these I'd be tickled to hear what you thought.

Our Deepest Fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.  We ask ourselves, ...
