Since 1997, ThatGirl has been moving dancefloors with an exquisite blend of hip-hop nostalgia, neo and classic soul, broken beats, soulful house, rocksteady breaks, and jazzy grooves creating one-half of the wicked hybrid, all female, earth-signed, moon powered duo of illin-illocanas known as A Lady's Touch. Hailing straight out of San Jose, she has rocked crowds from coast to coast while still maintaining an organic appeal and resisting all forms of mainstream commercialism.
Having been affiliated with collectives such as the 5th Element, Sisterz of the Underground, Trademark, Empress Sounds, Universal Grammar, and the Zulu Nation, she not only can rock a party, but has also been known for flexing her turntable trickery and creating abstract musical landscapes, selecting the freshest breaks for the b-kids to battle, and even simply providing audio ambiance for various art show openings, in-store appearances, and private cannabis club engagements. Her diverse sets have landed her gigs for a vast array of events and venues. She has performed with and opened up for such acts and artists as Aloe Blacc, Goapele, Rich Medina, Daz-I-Kue, KRS One, Mystic, MC Lyte, Medusa, Atmosphere, Crazy Legs, Rocafella, and Asia One.
"I love painting musical soundscapes of raw emotion.....playing sets that convey pure feeling, where time becomes nonexistent and the spirit becomes helplessly captivated by the groove". -ThatGirl
