Boston Basement Brigade

About Me

Here's the story: I sing in the HC outfit commonly known as “Knowing is Half the Battle”, we thought it would be funny to play a tour of strictly basement shows in Boston, which for us have been the most righteous shows to play. It started out as a 5 show basement tour in and around the Boston area. At the same time, I have been shooting footage for a music video for Knowing, and wanted to get shots of us playing the basements. I contacted the people responsible for producing the short horror/offensive-core film I did a few years ago called “Semicolon”. They agreed to help out, but were also busy with other projects as well, so they suggested that I might need to recruit some new blood to help out with the video shoot.I went home that night and watched the documentary “Dark Days” about the people who live under the Manhattan subway system in NYC. This got me to thinking: The Music scene in the city of Boston, specifically the Punk/Hardcore genera's - has the largest underground scene I have ever been involved with, and for that matter the unbelievable basement shows that this scene revolves around in - I have attended and been a part of is very specific to this area. It has never been documented on film aside from the random bands filming them selves. With the success of American Hardcore, a film that used footage from around 25 years ago, I figured why not make a documentary about something that is going on NOW right under out feet, literally.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

We need YOUR help! Like our scene, This documentary is a totally DIY, friends helping friends project, so this where YOU come in, we are going to need people with DV camera's to help film the bands/film interviews & people to do the interviews - so anyone who wants to be involved or you know someone who would - please don't hesitate to contact me. [email protected] www.myspace.com/bostonbasementbrigadeFilm – We need people who have or can get video cameras that are in the mini DV format. We will need you to film live bands performing as well as film interviews with said bands and the people who put these shows on. You will not be responsible to film all of the bands, just do what you can – that is why we are trying to get as many people as possibleInterviewers – We need people to interview the bands / people who put on the shows. We will have some stock questions, but when, the interviewer finds out which band he/she will be interviewing – they will need to as least go to their myspace page and write some of your own questions for the interview that at least shows the band that you have at least some interest in them as a band & know what you are talking about.
