Sounds Like: Me.Ah-Ho! Thanks for visiting my page. I am from the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma and am self-taught on the drums, harmonica and Native American flute. I am also a southern straight dancer, which is a traditional warrior’s dance of the men from the southern plains tribes.I love the Blues and music has always been a part of my life even before I started school. I have played drums in many rock, Top 40, country and Blues bands over the years. Presently I am with an all-native band called Blues Nation. We have played with, opened for or shared the stage with many bands such as Johnny Lane, Edgar Winter, Indigenous, the Bellamy Brothers, Rufus Thomas, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Micki Free, Elvin Bishop, Jeff Healy, The Texas Tornadoes, Michael Martin Murphy and too many others to mention. We have played all over the United States and Germany, at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, GA, the National Museum of the American Indian and Kennedy Center of Performing Arts in Washington, DC which included a spot with Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood on Al Gore’s 2007 world-wide Live Earth Concert, just to name a few. Our album Blues Nation was nominated for Blues Album of the Year by the Native American Music Awards in 2000. I also do solo performances with the flute at different venues and functions. My first flute album Prairie Rain earned me a nomination of Flutist of the Year in 2003 by the Native American Music Awards. I obviously love the Blues but also enjoy most types of music. I can get into the old metal bands, 60s, 70s and 80s music, old-style country, bug band and some Jazz. Drummer Buddy Rich was a big influence, along with rock drummer Tommy Aldridge and the Soul and R&B drummers.I am currently writing for Blues Nation as well as my own music. I compose my own flute songs and even composed a few songs for the traditional southern drum group Redstone from El Reno, OK. Redstone travels across the country singing at major pow-wows and traditional pow-wows.Thanks for your interest! If there is anything else you would like to know, please feel free to contact me!
