About Me

"NOTHING HITS LIKE HEMP!"
For more than 30 years tone purists like Eddie Van Halen, Neil Young, and Carlos Santana have turned to John Harrison of A Brown Soun, Inc. to recone or rebuild their speakers. In 2001 Harrison used his uncomparable knowledge to design the tone tubby, one of the most musical-sounding guitar speakers ever. The secret behind its design is the Hempcone, a speaker cone constructed of a proprietary hemp material that delivers exceptionally silky tone and nearly twice the power of a paper cone. Not to mention the tone that has smooth and polished highs, deep and lush bass, and lusciously rich and dense mids.
"What Hemphop is all about"
We developed hempcone technology for our speakers because, hemp is the lightest, strongest and best speaker cone material on the planet. Hemp fibre can be pressed thinner and is more resilient and hence able to more aptly reproduce tones with a quicker reaction time. Hemp's frequency response, dynamics and tonal balance are unmatched by any material-"natural or synthetic" The fact that hemp is a sustainable and a green resource is an added benefit. The product has been going through enduring tests at Boston University, the Tone Tubby factory, and many vehicles. A few speakers have been sold, but the speakers will be "HITTING" stores 7/27/08 and vehicles to follow. The speaker cones all have a soft greenish color to them but with a strong texture, you can actually pinch the woofer cone with your fingernail and it doesn't even dent it.....simply amazing. These speakers are the same recipe as the world renowned Tone Tubbies, but with different thickness and curvature. To break it down to layman's terms it's like taking a band and putting them in your car. The imaging and transparency are untouchable. Not to mention your ears will not ring no matter how loud it is because the sound will envelope you instead of just beam like other speakers. You can put your head in front of a Tone Tubby with a Marshall, or bump Hemphop in your ride and your will never get headaches or ringing.
"Real Facts about Hemp"
-Hemp has been grown for at least the last 12,000 years for fiber (textiles and paper) and food. It has been effectively prohibited in the United States since the 1950s.
-George Washington and Thomas Jefferson both grew hemp. Ben Franklin owned a mill that made hemp paper. Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence on hemp paper.
-Because of its importance for sails (the word "canvass" is rooted in "cannabis") and rope for ships, hemp was a required crop in the American colonies.
-Hemp fibers are longer, stronger, more absorbent and more mildew-resistant than cotton.
-Hemp can yield 3-8 dry tons of fiber per acre. This is four times what an average forest can yield.
-BMW is experimenting with hemp materials in automobiles as part of an effort to make cars more recyclable.
