Maria Lauterbach was an amazing Marine, as well as an amazing woman. Before joining the Marine Corp, she was very active in her community and well liked among others. That reputation followed her into the Marines. She loved her job and was great at doing it. The eight month pregnant Marine went missing on December 14, 2007 and remains of a violent death we confirmed to be that of Maria and her unborn child on Saturday, January 12, 2008.
This is not the first case of something like this happening, whether in the United States Marines or out. The fact is, that things like this happen everyday. However, police are working hard to catch Cesar Laurean, whom I don't believe deserves his title as Cpl any longer. We can only hope that Maria's case can help make huge changes for our future.
Maria, you will be missed by many, but by no means will you be forgotten.

As Most Of You Know
There's another memorial website out there.. who claims she's the "official". She's also been all over the news and such. I frankly don't agree with it. I think Maria's memorial site should be for and about Maria, and the joy she brought to so many peoples lives. So we won't even think of *THIS* site as a memorial site, but as a Celebration Of Maria's Life.
