Formed in 2008 in North London due to an enthusiasm of Strongbow, theme parks and David Attenborough, WSP take in influences from the lyricism of John Taylor, the burning intensity of Gilad Aztmon and the driving structures of Radiohead to shape a sound world of unruly experimental progressions and flowing melodic phrases.

“WSP blend tricksy modern themes with biting funk, high energy and virtuosic soloing on topâ€
- Time Out, London
"Dave Morecroft...is both an engaging spokesperson and a skilled pianist/composer...Raphael Clarkson’s more conventional straightahead jazz pieces  or even, on occasion, playing slow-building arrangements of rock-based fare that address everything with enough brio to take the audience with them...Tim Ower they have a useful soloist, with a rich tenor sound and an affecting agility on soprano."
- Chris Parker, Vortex
"WSP…delivered around two hours of exciting and deeply satisfying music…Pianist Dave Morecroft, the main composer, is also an inventive re-modeller of others’ music….and the band stoked up to an apocalyptical crescendo. Although the group dynamic and tempo shifts are in the vein of Britjazz bands such as Polar Bear, the focus is on melody and the spirit of Mingus was never far away"

Ron Burnett, York Press
"...the Project’s jazz theory is underpinned by gritty funk elements that produce a distinctive musical flow. And it really works...with great rhythmic hooks and intertwining lead work...creates a sumptuous aura about the group."

"“This was a tight set performed with considerable skill...clever, accessible jazz...these
young men deserve to go far.â€
