GATORS Biography Born: 11 JANUARY 1985 Birthplace: Houston, Texas Best known as: Rapper who did the hit song "25 INCHES'" Name at birth: COREY ROSS Nickname INSTIGATOR DAGATORHeight 5' 10" (2.79 m)Trade Mark He is known for his ability to effortlessly change the tempo and rhyme scheme of his rapping within a single song.Early life COREY ROSS was born January 11 in HOUSTON TX, As the youngest child in his household, he had to hold numerous jobs to help care for his family, including stocking food on selves and other labor work. GATOR said that at first lived in a section of Houston zoned to Cycreeke High school his parents moved to the jersey village area attendance zone so he could play in a more advanced sport program; he attended Jersey Village. High school. After GATORS parents, a father and a Christian mother, split in his early teens, Gator settled into a notoriously dangerous inner-city neighborhood in North Houston, which he elaborated upon during an interview with Houston's 90.1 damage controel on may 17 . Rap and other forms of secular music, that his parents had highly opposed in their household, became very appealing to the young corey ross. Inspired by local rap acts such as chamillionaire, 8 Ball & MJG, and UGK, as well as other national acts such as N.W.A. and Public Enemy, Gator began to compose his own rhymes. When gator was 17 his father died. His fathers death inspired him to keep going forward to presoo his dream of being a hip hop artist. The song (begotten son) was made in member of his fathers death. Music career At a young age, Gator, along with fellow rapper and childhood friend Ulis had decided to make music their careers. Gator has stated that he has been recording mixtapes as early as 2000. While promoting themselves in an event, he and Ulis met Big boi", a popular mixtape DJ/recording studio owner from northern Houston. After proposing to do promotions for Big bois company , Gator and ulis came to Big bois studio and convinced him to allow them to freestyle on an intro to his radio show on Houston hip-hop radio station 90.1 damage control. Big boi who himself was convinced to rap on the record, enjoyed the freestyle so much that he put the verses on one of his mixtapes. Soon, Gator and ulis became regular staples on Houston's mixtape circuit, appeared on several of Big bois mixtapes, and became permanent members of the studio. Gator and ulis soon started their own group,THE UNTOUCHABLES. In 2004 Gator and Ulis collaborated for the album PERCEPTION OF A MC would go on to sell over 9,000.00 copies just selling it out of the trunk of there cars hand to hand and word of mouth in only 4 months. Gator stated they could have sold more but that album was just to get a fan base in H-town and he felt like it did what it was supposed to do. eager to get back in the studio gator and Ulis added to more artist to the group ACE and SLIM-C. as the group started recording the new album NO MURCY IN MY EYES there was a lot of problems with the members about how they wanted to market the new album what company would book the album to the stores. And where were they going to get the extra money to promote it. And how much money each artist would make of the album pending on how good the album selled. Although Gator and Ulis were making much noise in the streets by rapping on there' mixtapes, they, along with the other 2 members of the untouchables, became frustrated with the lack of money they were receiving from the mixtapes Gator and his labelmates decided to remain independent, however, until the right deal came along. While working on the group album with the untouchables, gator began to have creative differences with the group, so much so that it was decided that the fore emcees should each release solo albums that would be packaged together. When gator became dissatisfied with how things were being resolved, he left the group and his almost complete album after fulfilling his contractual obligations to focus on promoting his mixtape label rap shit records instead. Soon after the rappers where no longer in good standing with each other. Although the members are not friends any more they agreed to feater on each others mix tapes and albums.
