About Me

The music of Freak Street Project (FSP) is a combination of guitar and horns driven funk, with latin and rock influences. Think Red hot chili peppers meets the James Brown band! Formed in early 2003 by Tenzing Shrestha and Imkong Yaden, FSP has been creating a lot of buzz around the Denver music scene. They were recently Nominated Best Funk/Soul Band in Denver by the Westword Newspaper. Tenzing is originally from Nepal and Imkong from India. Imkong has a degree from the Berkley College of Music and Tenzing from the University of Colorado, Denver. They grew up listening to the same kind of music and have a unique chemistry which is really evident in their live shows. The rest of the band members also have music degrees and or are currently pursuing a degree in music. FSP has been compared to other artists like Ozomatli, Galactic, Medeski Martin & Wood and Santana to mention a few.FSP has performed in most major venues around Colorado in addition to local bars and clubs. FSP has also played numerous festivals like the Peoples Fair in Denver, Spring Festival at CU-Denver, World Tibet Day in Boulder, Carmelo Anthonyâ€™s (Denver nuggets) Record label party in 2004, PeaceJam Concert etc. FSP released CRUZIN their first EP in the summer of 2005.
