R. West Byrd's success as a professional in the music industry incorporates his talents as producer, composer, arranger, pianist, and music director in the genres of jazz, classical, gospel, and neo-soul. West has been playing since the age of five and brings an array of virsitility to any musical arena he's placed in. He has had the opportunity to play for some well-known grammy-award winning artists as well as some "hopeful" future award-winning artists. His influences spawn from Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Bob James, Russell Ferrante and the YELLOWJACKETS, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and New York based newcomer, Robert Glasper!!Recently, West has took his music in a different direction crossing over into television/film production. He is the music director/segment producer for nContrast w/host Chuck Faush, a national entertainment television show aired on BETJazz nightly. He is also the music director for a faith-based show entitled Epiphany, aired on Inspiration Network and MD in the houseband for The Chat Room, a Birmingham based show. West just launched a new entertainment label, West Unlimited,L.L.C., housing artists of all genres and events all across the country. Talented and thirsty for continued success, R.
