*****************

Maryland's premiere alternative hip-hop band, Heroes for Higher has been making sweet love to the mic since way back in 2007. Domination comes in the form of Derek Shank on drums and Nick Taylor on bass (both formerly of Distorted Penguins), Dan Stevens on lead guitar (formerly of The Trend), Drew Knippenberg on rhythm (formerly of Today's Special), and Skooch Emcee and Truce II Headrush on vocals (both formerly of Midnight:30).

Influences: Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys, A Tribe Called Quest, OutKast, Cypress Hill, Midnight:30, Distorted Penguins, The Shakedown, The Trend, Grill Body 5, Plan:Be, Today's Special, the desire to tour and do out-of-town shows, the desire to have sex with the type of chicks who will have sex with guys just because they are in a band ... yeah, especially that.
Sounds Like: Remember that old hip-hop, the stuff you really liked? Before it got horrible and gangstafied and jiggified and Diddy-ized and went pop? Before it became the modern equivalent of disco -- all dance tracks, all sounding alike? That hip-hop from when you weren't embarrassed to say you loved hip-hop? Remember that era?

Welcome to the evolution ...

Morgantown, or why Amanda rules.

Two things stand out from the Morgantown show: First of all, Drew bought an order of chicken fingers from Buffalo Wild Wings that were 100% raw -- I mean, the shit wasn't cooked. Drew didn't realize t...
