The Watermark Project

About Me

When the cold, cold waters Drain away into the sea They leave behind a broken landscape They leave their mark on me...The song Watermark is penned in 1998, continuing my exploration of water imagery within my art. At some point it becomes clear that this song will share its title with whatever collection of music grows out of this extended process. The song is not written as a topical reflection on specific flood events, in New Orleans or elsewhere. But there is an added urgency now.In time I begin to take the music out; first as a solo acoustic project; then as a series of studio collaborations; and finally as an established ensemble. There are now a few Mp3's from maiden voyage at the Rockwood Music Hall, with special guest Martha Colby on cello, posted on the project website linked below. There are a number of really great players - Jim Campilongo's on crazy tele; Dan Rieser and Shane Row on drums; Todd Sickafoose and Ken Rich on bass; eventually Catherine Bent steps in on cello - all involved in the ongoing studio sessions. Ken Rich adds his production and engineering expertise. I am really excited with how things are pulling together. More shows will be announced soon. Thanks for checking things out.-fThe Watermark Project website
