I was born on Jan 29th 1861 a free state and bleed for all free people of the world ,my name is Kansas from the great tribes to the north the name Kansa meaning people of the south wind I've been under a sea ,flooded ,ripped by tornados, beat by hail,my ground quakes at times,been burned by the sun, froze by winter and bled on by my children good and bad and some say it was me that started the Civil war but it was not me, it was man it started in the 1850s the killing was horible but what it brought was slaughter and destruction of a nation causing pain that still lingers today. But my grass still turns green in the spring my sky still is blue ,the air fresh to breath ,land to run and grow food on to lay on and look at the stars, my rivers run wide and deep full of catfish my people still free but have to struggle every day to stay that way , and they will all of them white, black ,red ,brown.yellow they are like me all colors for all seasons. I give oil & gas to heat with and to keep the wheels turning motor's running wind to make power with,give my blue calm sky to fly in and fly my children have men and women,my name Kansas and proud of it !!!!
