MySpace LayoutsHip Hop is more then a passing phase for me. Some grow out of it. Some find other things in life that amuse themselves more then making music. Some get stuck in the everday grind and seem to lose there passion's in exchange for a normal existence. Well me I refuse to let go of what i love so much. Born In 1981 as Jonathan Zaruk but nicknamed Jay. I fell in love with hip hop at an early age. Some of the first joints i ever listened to where the Beastie Boys, Digital Underground, Dj Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince. Fun Hip hop so to speak. But my passion for this music really started with more hardcore acts such as Dre, Snoop, Cube, Eazy. But when I first heard Wu-Tang i wanted to study every single lyric and know it word for word. At the age of 15 i had 36 chambers memorized along with other classic albums before the days of downloading an album for free and listening just once.As far as recording and becoming an emcee it wasn't a dream of mine till about 2 years ago. I had lived most my twenties working monotonous jobs feeling no real existence in life. I fell into a lifestyle of drugs and alcohol. Found myself coming from a middle class family to living on the streets and in slums. going to extremes has always been a part of me. I eventually got wrapped up into a lifestyle of dealing crack cocaine in an organized fashion. Now Im not saying these things like alot of rappers do to gain there street credit i'm just explaining my life to show there is a way out. And i found mine threw music which put my mind at ease after getting out of the game. Its actually taking me along time to confront these issues on wax because the honest truth is i rather forget my past. So alot of my early music was comedy filled because I have always tried to see the lighter side of life and i have always been able to make people laugh. But when i wrote these deep tracks i noticed a healing process start within me like no other. Now I am first and foremost an underground emcee 90% of my tracks is what i write the other 10% flow production etc. comes easy overtime but writing is where i take my time. I like to paint a world of horror, a world of egotism, a world of suffering that needs to be taken back with my lyrics. A message so to speak, or purpose. It all stems from what I have personally witnessed in my life. I have no use for crooked governments, religions, corporations, prisons, anything that puts fear into the common man which my music is meant for. So I vent these things on the mic. I am what some would call a conspiracy theorist, i like to call myself a conspiracy realist though someone with his eyes open.As far as rapping itself it all started on a headset and a website i could freestyle battle on, and A belief in my mind that i can be really good at this. Ive have put more time into my music in 2 short years that some take a decade to achieve. The result of living with family for free who have helped me cope with my issues and are always continuing to help me get back on my feet. A year ago I was placed on house arrest for drug charges against me. This is when I purchased my first condensor mic and recorded my first mixtape oddly enough called House Arrest. Many Emcee's from all over the world helped me put this compilation together, threw the power of the internet, within a few months. I went Directly into my next tape Prodigal Son, kind of a metaphor for having found my way. Both these tapes had very poor sound quality and my ryhme schemes and flow was not as seasoned as it is today. But thats the learning curve. Yet one thing I have always had a knack for immediately is putting a good concept track together and envisioning how it should sound before i ever put pen to pad. That kinda brought me into my next mixtape Topics where i just wanted to speak on issues whether they where funny emotional or just damn right outragous. Whateva!! it was kind of a do what you like Tape which made it so fun. Plus at this time I was really starting to come into my own and truly understanding what a proper ryhme scheme and a hot 16 bars consist's of.Many Emcee's have helped me along this journey, and all the props in the world to everyone you know who you are. But for my next mixtape Sin Becomes Evil i wanted to do my own thing solo wise. And I wanted to up my Game large and make a statement with this tape as if to say "This is Z-Rack i have finally came into my own". The tape I wanted to make it dark, underground, yet I wanted that message to it. I started opening my eyes to what is going on in the world today. I spend alot of my time on underground media sites such as Infowars.com getting a insight on issues that CNN and other news media networks hide from you. I had a chip on my shoulder coming into this tape. Evertime I stepped in the booth I said "imma beast on this". I had to dig in the crates listen to old school classics again and had to listen to newer underground artist's. I had to put some of the pain ive seen in my life on wax. And most of all i had to up my production which meant redoing tracks over and over, countless hours and late nights watching tutorials spending time on forums, had to up my programs to, got a set of Waves Plugins that became my best friend threw all of this. The whole process took me 6 months day in day out to put together. I have many tracks that didnt make the cut . And I am still not 100 with the tape yet. I will probably Re-issue it with new joints i have and get it professionally pressed to hand out locally to the masses.Speaking of that its my next step in this game. As much as i would like to just hide in my cave and make music the rest of my life i feel i need to be heard. Im jumping on other mixtapes now that get heard all over. I want to start doing shows and having a stage presence since you do not get the full effect of who i am just by listening to my mixtapes. I want to keep upping my production. Eventually make an Album which means purchasing instrumentals. I want to get a demo to send to indie labels hoping maybe one might pick me up. A 9 to 5 is hard to confine to but i have a dream right now and despite what people may say. I truly believe you are what your thoughts are and I believe. Its gonna take some time and money but i believe i have a product, and maybe in a year or two ill be writing a whole new Bio. This is just the beginning. PEACE ONE LUV Z
