The Evergreen

About Me

Acclaimed for their beauty, perseverance, and abundance, the evergreen is, in our opinion, the greatest of trees. Even in the most foreboding winter, it stays green and thrives. Undaunted by flaky musicians and an ironically cold local scene in the desert, we stay true to our mission to bring music with substance and catchy melodies to the masses. With our complex vocal harmonies, lush strings, poignant lyrics, and explosive rhythm section, we hope we can serenade some green into the frozen tundra of our current music world.
The majority of our time as a band has been devoted to songwriting and recording. We record and mix everything ourselves using our growing arsenal of mainly vintage mics, and effects. We are currently adding a horn section, and working on perfecting the recreation of our complex recordings live. In addition we're working on the music for a new T.V. show that will hopefully get on HBO or Showtime. We have already played at a variety of local venues and festivals, including a recent benefit concert for Darfur that landed us on a spot on the evening news for ABC and NBC.
MEMBERS:
ADAM LEE TOMAR was raised by a pack of wolves in a cave in New Mexico. He was taken in as one of the pack after his Gypsy parents were killed in a UFO crash on a deserted highway. When he finally left the pack he struck out for San Francisco, and became the protege of blues master Sonny Roots. He arranged for Adam to jam with Sonny's old friend and bandmate George Clinton when the formerly feral musician was only 19. Since then he has performed with George Clinton and P-Funk in venues nationwide over the last 6 years. He has also recorded with George and various other band members. In addition he has recorded with members of Tone Tony Toni, MC Hammer's backing band, and Bob Dylan's band. While he is not playing with the Evergreen, he studies music composition and classical guitar at the University of Arizona, and tries to break the bad social habits he learned from his unconventional upbringing.
LAUREN K JONES was nurtured by god-fearing missionaries in the jungles of Guam. Her parents were tragically melted by a volcano that erupted sometime in the early 90's. To this day, Lauren is afraid of science fair volcanoes for it brings back memories of beloved dead parents. After leaving the island, Lauren came to the united states and learned to play the cello. She attended the University of Arizona music school where she was taught by Nancy Green and Mark Votapek. She has performed with various university music groups and has gained much of her singing experience through breaking out in song as often as possible. She will soon receive her degree in music education. When she is not involved in her student teaching school or playing cello and singing, Lauren teaches private lessons and coaches a church youth band. Her God-fearing missionary parents would be proud.
