Ryan Asselbergs was born in Amsterdam in the year of 1981 but grew up in Alphen a/d Rijn.
His first contact with housemusic was on the age of 14, where he visited the so called "mellow" parties that were held in Alphen's youthcenter Madonna, but his real love for house music began at his first night out at the infamous Chemistry-nights that were held in Escape. The music,the people and the whole vibe made him go there every saturday to listen to his favorite Dj's like Marcello,Dimitri,100% isis,Remy,Angelo and many more. The way the dj's were playing inspired him so much, that he was fantasizing about how it would be to set the crowd on fire and let every body smile like they did every week.After a couple of years he started to collect vinyl himself, so his friends decided to buy him a dj-set for his birthday. Now he had a dj-set and a bunch of records where he could practice on and started to master his skills. Cause of his big love for the soulful house sounds most records he bought where deep and soulful. After buying a few records of Joey Youngman he found out about a new sound called "NU-SCHOOL CHICAGO". His search went on for other dj's who made these jackin tunes and led him to records of Bryan Jones,The Littlemen,Inland Knights,Swirl People,Jason Hodges,LawnChair Genrals,The Sound Republic,Oliver Desmet,Ken ECB,Natural Rhythm, and many more.
Yes, that's the sound that Ryan likes so much and is in one word FUNKY! This jackin' sound is not that known here in Holland and only lives in the underground. Although it's getting started in Rotterdam and Limburg with small parties, his hopes are for a proper scene here in Amsterdam as well.After playing in small bars and lounge clubs like BED Amsterdam and Bar Arc Ryan found his way to Franchise. A good friend and organiser of the Franchise night heard Easy Ryan and buddy Artistique playing @ Bed Amsterdam and liked it so much, he let them open Franchise b2b every thursday night since the beginning of 2007. Now Easy Ryan is warming up the crowd at Franchise every thursday with his funky deephouze Chicago jackin' sounds and is one of the residents of the Franchise club night. It even brought him to Greece where Franchise was held at Hersonissos Crete where he played along with other Franchise residents @ club Matrix. He also played @ Suzy Wong, Zebra Lounge, Supperclub, Odeon, BC Billabong, BC Naturel, Escape and @ events such as Shake'Up @ The Mansion, Housexy @ Panama, Franchise @ Paard van Troje, Stereo Sushi by Hed Kandi @ club Sinners, Perfume @ Club NL, Hed Kandi @ Paard van Troje, Fashion TV @ Ocean Diva and Pacha @ The Powerzone. His style can be discribed as soulfullicious funky deephouze jazzin' jackin' nu-school Chicago, a style that makes you smile and makes you wanna dance your feet off. A style that is coming......
