I am here for Friends

About Me

Hello my friend.
My name is Marylou Ubana. But, my friends just call me Lulu.
I was born pure Filipina in Manila on September 11, 1958 and raised in Angeles City, Philippines. I'm the second of five children of Ricardo and Felase Salinas. I graduated from Lorraine Technical Institute and immigrated to the United States in 1978.
On September 15, 1993, I entered Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale, California for induction of my post delivery date labor.
This was my second time at labor.
With me was my fiancee and father of Anak. It's the Ninetys, and people don't die during childbirth anymore. Do they?
At 1 am on September 16, I entered a persistant vegitative state*.
I entered this state just minutes prior to the emergency c-section birth of our son, Anak.
Mercifully, after seven years, I passed away at 3:00 am.
It was on Monday, November 11, 2000 at Sycamore Park Convalescent Home in Highland Park. Avenue 49... Wah!
Highland Park was my ol' stomping grounds. Love Tommy Burgers, Eaglerock, and the Glendale Galleria.
If my child was a girl, we planned on naming her "Whitney" ater one of the most amazing singers ever.
Anak is plagued with a lifetime of Cerebral Palsy.
At the time of my death, Dennis was 17, and Steve was 7.
I was also survived by my mother, four brothers, and many loving friends.
I am buried at Forest Lawn Cemetary, Hollywood Hills, CA.
If you're in the area... roses are my favorite. Maraming salamat po.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

The Doctor's and Nurses of involved in the injury of my son and me.

You hear about Cancer Survivors, Heart-Attack, and Stroke Survivors. Do you ever notice that you never hear about the Medical Mal-Practice survivors? It's strange that nobody wants to talk about it. We all have friends and relatives who are doctors and nurses. I know it's a touchy subject but these victims are absolutely innocent.
Do you have any idea the degree of overwelming, numerous episodes, and obvious evidence necessary to prove a claim?
And what happens to the staff members involved?
Normal rotations, raises, and promotions. That's the answer. There is no real internal review. Nothing is learned. Infact, the hospital staff's attitude towards the victum's family becomes aggressive and harsh.

* Persistant vegitative state (PVS) is a condition of patients with severe brain damage in whom coma has progressed to a state of wakefulness without detectable awareness.
"Anak" translated from Tagalog (official language of the Philippines) means "Child".
"Mahal Kita" means "I love you".
Maraming salamat means "Thank you very much".
