Scene 02 Ripe Project
The “Ripe Project: the Village and Harvest Time” by Sakarin Krue-on presents the story of the oriental way of life. The technique used in this project is deifferent from other types of art presentation. This work has been carrying from the 12th Documenta, Kazzle, and German. The inspiration from the simple life pattern of the countryside and the value of generousity lead to the concept for this exhibition. It is to present the missing pieces from this materialized society. The interactive-participative fine art and activity are aimed to help the viewer appreciate and become aware of the value of good working process.
Scene 03 "BINRAN+PICNIC"
Renowned Japanese photographer Masato Seto is being welcomed for his first ever solo exhibition titled "Binran+Picnic" in Bangkok at H Gallery opening on February 2, 2008, at 6 p.m. This one-time event brings one of Japan's greatest living artists to the city and is being co-hosted by the Japan Foundation, Bangkok.Seto is the winner of Japan's Kimura Ihei Prize, Japan's most prestigious award for fine art photography, and his works are held in the collections of the Guggenheim Museum (New York), Museum of Modern Art (New York) and Museum of Contemporary Photography (Tokyo), among numerous others. The exhibition "Binran+Picnic" will fuse two series of photographs by the artist for the first time that both deal with human role-playing and public space."Binran" is a new series of photographs by Seto that explores the idea of display and sexual commodification in contemporary Taiwan. It explores the peculiar and unique women of the cigarette booths in Taipei and along its outskirts. The booths exist as display cases for humans and a paradigm of sexuality in consumer culture, albeit with a certain misogynist tinge. In conjunction with this new series of works Seto will show prints from his award-winning "Picnic" series of photographs, which were produced as a monograph in 2006. The series of images was shot in Japan and deals with the structure of 19th century European painting in terms of the public picnic, which is fused here with a uniquely modern and Asian sensibility in Tokyo's parks.Differences are the success of these series in tandem with the crux of many pictures their affectation of modernity, consumption and capturing of human flaws. Photographs teeter on being hyper-real in their emphasis of wrinkles in a shirt, a converse sneaker, mussed hair or a frayed shoelace; all are the impeccable details unthinkable and in a way beyond imagination, but they exist in these mannered portraits through the astute photographer and camera, which observes with an unflinching glass eye.
scene 04 Our Lady of the Low Countries
Brilliant and bizarre performance artist Michael Shaowanasai, better known in Thailand as super heroine Iron Pussy, reinterprets the symbols of feminine divinity to transform himself into a revered public monument. Inspired by a penetrating dialogue with a handsome Dutch theologian, he bestows his new divine persona with the title ‘Our Lady of the Low Countries.’ “Thailand, especially Bangkok, is a lowland country too,” he says. “When we look up to our celebrated icons, we only see 180 degrees, or just one side, of them. This is why Our Lady is photographed on a pedestal in the middle of a busy traffic circle. People drive around Her and get a 360 degree view.” Whether you find Michael’s work delicious or offensive, Our Lady’s high-wattage glamour and sanctity is sure to electrify.
Scene 05 "Paradise Engineering"

Scene 06 Myths & Monstrosities
100 Tonson Gallery is very pleased to present an exhibition of Peggy Wauters’s sculptural ceramics and works on paper titled Myths and Monstrosities. This is the Belgian artist’s first solo exhibition in Asia.Peggy Wauters creates humanoid forms that bespeak extreme experience. From physical mutation and disintegration to the evocation of profound psychological states, Wauter’s sculptures and drawings are an art of provocation and contemplation.Drawing inspiration from the symbolic status of society’s ‘others’, such as prisoners, orphans and the disabled, the artist employs a personal interpretation of codes and conventions that signify human frailty and folly. Historically resonant narratives, allegories and allusions are explored to produce a particular vision of basic human fears and feelings for the contemporary climate. A vision, it needs to be said, shot through with an almost perverse sense of humour. Wauters’s exaggerated forms can be both mocking and sympathetic.
