Sweatshop is a Brighton funk/club night and brainchild of three local funkateers who decided it was time to start up a a proper good times funk based night back in Brighton! Guitarist, Keys player, DJ and main man, Sir Ed Meme aka Glenn Fallows (The Impellers), Trombonist, DJ, master of mince and funk doobiest Mr Gram Canyon (The Impellers) and beatmeister extraordinaire, groove merchant and DJ to the party people, Mr Matteos Beatwell aka Matt Grandison (All Funked DJ's)). Popping up at quirky venues in and around the City, Sweatshops aim is to showcase the very best in live deep funk, heavy soul grooves & guest DJ's that are sure to throwdown all manner of the finest funk nuggets, guaranteed to get dancefloors shakin with funk, soul, afrobeat, bboy breaks, hip hop & house, and everything else in between, it doesn't matter - one thing's for sure....... it's time to get a serious sweat on! :)On March 7th '08 the very first Sweatshop, held upstairs at the Hope in Brighton saw local funk shakers and movers , Ed Meme & The Forms (now The Impellers) celebrate the launch of the Bands first E.P by laying down one of the heaviest, grooviest sets to a packed, sold out audience, with support from resident Sweatshop DJ's Ed Meme, Gram Canyon & Beatwell, it made for a truly memorable night and the first of many to come - NEXT UP SWEATSHOP Vs COOKSHOP AT THE HOPE APRIL 11TH! ;)
