My large maternal Irish Catholic family is anchored in Richmond VA. I was born in Roanoke, moved to N. Hampton Mass at 10 mths and then to E. Setauket NY on Long Island around 3 where I "grew up." I was basically kicked out of my parents house around 16 and bounced around a bit. I graduated High School, class of 1993, in Peterbourough NH. My family moved to Richmond concurrent to this and I moved to Burlington VT. In '96 I came to Richmond also. I was a "smart" kid, honors classes and such, I played the violin, I skateboarded back in the days of "Animal Chin," "World Industries" and "H-Street," and I have snowboarded for years now. I started "partying" at 12 or 14. Mom put me in rehab at 16. I actually got clean on my own at 19 and stayed that way until 25. I'm 32 as of today and have 2 1/2 years clean again. Alcohol is what I've gotten the most problems with, although I've tried the majority of what's out there. I've taken a couple stabs at college but it helps to do homework, write papers and study. I completed school for massage therapy and became certified but never followed up professionally. Most recently I completed a 25 month apprenticeship for hair, passed my state boards and became a licensed cosmetologist. My dad's a psychiatrist, mom's a divorce attorney, little sister, Molly(30), is a lawyer in San Fran., lil bro, Gavin (25), is a graduate of Wm & Mary and my littlest brother, Kellan(21) is about to graduate from VCU. I also have a 1/2 sister, Julia(8), by my father. My parents split up after 20 years of marriage in '94 when I was 19. They are both remarried.
