Fleur du cancer

Fleur du Cancer is the solo musical project of the Brazilian singer and composer Regis de Avlis, who played during 15 years with Rio de Janeiro independent bands like Flores que Não Comovem, Marble Flowers e Estação das Luas Escuras. Elaborated melodies and sound textures that evoke a sweet melancholy keep being his trademark. Added to simple lyrics, of a subtle, delicate poetry, in Portuguese and English, and enhancing the instrumental parts of the musics, Fleur Du Cancer ended up differentiating itself from Regis' former works. Its totally home-produced music and videos have already started to attract attention. According to the musician, Fleur is his most mature work, which has been arising from a most "conscious" phase regarding to his feelings and ideas. The name symbolizes the relief and beauty of sorrow, not always perceived, the "flower that grows from all kinds of suffering", making understand that "only our worse side, our cancer, can suffer and die."
