About Me

Hello everybody; I'm your bearded buddy boots bell. Yes, indeedy doody-daddy, I was there at the beginning of rock & roll. I was born in Michigan and moved to Fredonia NY, where I got my first radio gig. In 1959 I moved to Youngstown Ohio, where I immediately hooked on with WHOT the radio voice of Youngstown Ohio and the Mahoning valley. I worked at the same time with the likes of Allan Freed & Dick Biondi. I like to think that I taught them the biz. They chose to move to bigger markets where needless to say, they made a name for themselves. I chose to remain in Y-Town, where I was a big fish in a small pond. I enjoyed the people of Youngstown Ohio and the people in Y-Town loved me.I like to think that I made a positive impact on the youth of the day. I did the sock hops at Idora Park and promoted the rock groups of Y-Town and the Mahoning Vally. After the demise of AM radio, I moved on to a couple of lesser known radio stations in the area. In my career I spun all kinds of music from early rock and roll to country & western in my later years. I often appeared on TV telethons in the Youngstown area, although I would like not to brag about Charity work. I later taught classes at Youngstown State in broadcasting. I really enjoyed this. It gave me a chance to once again work with young people and help them achieve their goals in the radio & the television biz. I also enjoyed working the soap box derby and the Trumble county fair. One of the things I did as a radio personality was to do a live interview with the BEATLES. I am so pleased that although I am gone, my legend goes on in the hearts and minds of my fans and that the powers that be has seen fit to induct me into the Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Well, I guess that it is time to hop on to my booter scooter and get on out of here and Yes, indeedy doody-daddy, have yourself a happy!
