About Me

"He who knows does not speak; he who speaks does not know." -Lao Tzu
"It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt." -Mark Twain

I'm fun loving and big on taking a humorous look at life. I try to attain balance between work and play and it's put me in a position where I have a large amount of freedom and not too many worries. I've got a very diverse set of interests and love meeting new people and finding new things to experience. A friend recently noted that I don't do things half-assed. I believe in enjoying the flavor of life fully, whether it's working, indulging my hobbies, or relaxing and having fun.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People who can go to an art gallery opening, enjoy a fine dinner followed by a nice port, and listen to jazz one day, and then go out for margaritas and cheesesteaks with the jukebox blaring rock and ska the next day and enjoy all of it. People who like to savor and enjoy life.

I'm looking to meet people who are comfortable and secure in who they are. People who are hard to offend and speak their mind freely.

My Blog

The Big Day

Today is the day. It's the day I stand before family and friends and pledge my love and my life to Crystal. I'm sitting here writing about it because I finally gave up on my feeble attempts to sleep....

Runaway bride???

I just found out that my fiancee's college girlfriends all voted her the most likely to become a "runaway bride". Should I be worried, amused or both?

The slowroll wins again!

Once again I have seen slow, steady strategy, without all the glitz and drama, take the day. Michael Nutter has won the democratic nomination for Mayor of Philadelphia (and by virtue of the city's dem...

Headbanger's Ball: Old Friend or Complete Stranger?

OK, so I was hunting around for something to watch for a bit and I spotted Headbanger's Ball on MTV2. I used to live and breath this show when I was in high school. I knew it had made a comeback and I...

House Committee [clueless] on Science and Tech

I just read the most ridiculous article on CNN. The U.S. House of Representatives Committe on Science and Technology has essentially accused Google of trying to "airbrush" away the effects of Hurrican...

The number 23

OK, so maybe I'm being paranoid or indulging my overactive imagination, but the movie "The Number 23" (starring Jim Carrey) opened tonight, and I couldn't help but notice that today, on the 23rd, we w...

The Mei Guo Markup

I am a liability. My mere presence is detrimental to our ability to shop. Even though we have Crystal's mother and aunt (xiao yi) with us, the salespeople take one look at me and figure their eyes lig...

BTV Tunes in on the Hot Pot Channel

Crystal is an only child (just like me). For me, this status is likely related to my mother's anorexia, but for Crystal it was the result of the governmentally-mandated "One Child Policy", implemented...

It's Just a Wall?!

"It's just a wall." Crystal spoke these words yesterday. We were going to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the only manmade structure visible from space, and she called it "just a wall". I t...
