The combination of laying down musical tracks, composing, and recording live bands helped elevate his listening skills and sharpen his overall understanding of the art.Dj tap then moved to New York to incorporate his experience and education in major recording studios. While furthering his education at L.I.U. in 1995 Dj Tap majored in Journalism and Mass Communications and progressed as a writer, editor, and photographer. Band Members: Dj Tap is the sole selector of The Orion SoundWave...Please feel free to challenge me to a contest of my knowledge of oldies-Haitian music, Soul Classics, Rockers Reggae and Hip Hop.
Influences: My mother and father...Haitian Music-Caribbean sounds...Africa, Brazil, South Americas, Yoruba, Bantu, Ibo, 1804 Revolution. Hip Hop as a culture. "Goodbye Uncle Tom" -the movie as well as the innumerable hours of film and audio I have engorged.
Sounds Like: The Meters were jamming and all of the sudden Shugie Otis jumped in and as he started playing they stopped and called Dadou Pasket who happened to be with Sixto and Ansyito...Before they left to join the jam session they called Coupe Cloue who happened to be sleeping with Phyllis Dillon who just broke up with Master Dji...On the flight to the session Bernard Purdie was playing Casino with all of the Manhattans who began to argue about the musicians in the row behind them called Led Zepplin. Cymande awaited them at the gates as soon as they arrived. In the car they bumped Janus Ian, Gil Scott Heron, Parliament, Nana Muskuri, Digital Express, Jako Pastorius, Django Reinhardt, Morphine, Fourplay, The Dells, Jackie Deshannon, The Doobie Brothers, Albert King, Isaac Hayes, Burning Spear, SuperCat and Tenor Saw.
