Welcome to the Adams Family circle of Freinds!
Chris is a musician/songwriter with a mainly guitar focused style and a great Ability to attach emotion to his work.
Los Angeles, CA – For the modern listener, the UK’s Chris Adams is finding fresh relevance for classical music. His latest project, titled simply “Classics,” is a collection of songs that rework revered classical pieces. Hiscontemporary revamps of age-old favorites bring timeless pieces of music to latter day listeners who might otherwiseoverlook them.
“Canon,” a revision of “Pachelbel’s Canon,” is one such wormhole in the time continuum. Adams ably rearrangesPachelbel’s famed Baroque Period strings composition, using his accomplished guitar work to bestow this beloved piecewith a personality in line with today’s listeners while still maintaining the beauty and dignity of the original version.
“In this piece I use a lot of three- or four-part harmonies on the guitar,” explains Adams. “I have introduced anice, laid back groove with a relaxing feel.”
Adams kicked off his solo efforts in 1999, embarking upon an instrumental rock career. But by 2002, he had joinedforces with John and Geoff Whitbread, described by Adams as “two brothers with phenomenal talent.” John’s vocal techniqueand Geoff’s drumming skills meshed marvelously with Adams’ guitar playing. These musicians, perfectly in sync with eachother, found themselves moving in a more traditional “song-based” direction.
“I still write both instrumental and vocal pieces,” says Adams. His solo career is still going strong; he has three singers and a number of instrumentalists at his disposal forrecording and for live shows. The music continues to be guitar-based with a focus on guitar virtuosity.
Adams’ previous albums include “Back to Jerusalem,” “One Solitary Chair,” “In Through the Soundhole,” “On theRock,” “Streams from Bethel,” “Out of the Silence,” “Variations on a Theme,” “Requiem for a Mountain,” “House of Dreams,”“So Far,” “Sozo” and “I Was an Island.”
Adams has appeared on the main stage at the H3 festival three years in a row and several of his songs haveachieved number one status on a number of web sites, including PeopleSound.com and Amazon.com.
But music isn’t the only product of Adams’ hard work. “One thing my solo career has produced is my partner andtwo children,” he says. “You never know where the music is going to take you.
