He was born Jeremy Michael Coleman in Baltimore, Maryland December 17, 1990. All his life he has been surrounded by music. At an early age he remembers seeing his parents go to the studio to record music. He remembers what it was like watching his Dad play bass and his Mom play keyboards. He was fascinated with the Engineer and all of the equipment in the Studio. He did not know he was in the company of well known musicians and some world famous, but he knew he liked what he heard. Although, it was a lot of hard work, they seemed to love what they were doing. Jmike started to love it too.He shared his mom’s love for singing, began singing at age three. He sang his first solo in church at age seven. He wasn’t scared, because this was something that we did all of the time. "When my friends were playing with Pokemon cards, I was writing lyrics, it was fun for me". This was the beginning of his love for music.The second thing that happened to him that let him know he is supposed to be in the Music Industry, was when he was listening to music on the radio, and could pinpoint the areas that would make the songs better. Watching his Dad mix music helped me in that area. "He taught me to listen, really listen to the tracks".He was exposed to a lot of music while growing up, Jazz, R&B, Gospel, Classical even Country, however, he developed a love for Jazz after hearing a saxophone player in his Dad and Mom’s band play, “In a Sentimental Mood “. He had to play Saxophone, so he started taking lessons. After a few lessons, he was writing my own jazz compositions. He loved playing and listening to Jazz. His background playing Saxophone will be helpful with horn arrangements when he is working with artists.In high school after being in the Academy of Finance, He learned there is more to music than just being an artist. He learned there is a business aspect to everything; that is when he decided he wanted to be in the Music Industry and focus on the business and production aspect of it.He has seen a lot of artists, songwriters and producers say that they want to be famous, but they do not have the business sense to succeed, and because of it many do not succeed. He thought about being a financial planner and even considered becoming a Lawyer but He could not imagine myself getting dressed every morning to do something other than music.
